Act 1 Scene 1 Lines 157-168
|
“I have a widow aunt, a dowager Of great revenue, and she hath no child. From Athens is her house remote seven leagues, And she respects me as her only son. There, gentle Hermia, may I marry thee, And to that place the sharp Athenian law Cannot pursue us. If thou lovest me, then, Steal forth thy father’s house tomorrow night; And in the wood, a league without the town, Where I did meet thee once with Helena, To do observance to a morn of May, There will I stay for thee. ”

Reflection on the quote:
Lysander says this to Hermia, explaining to her his plan of escape for them. This plan to escape Athens is an example of betrayal. Egeus , Hermia's father, does not approve of her marrying Lysander, he wants her to marry Demetrius but she will never do so for she loves Lysander. This is an example of betrayal because instead of sacrificing and staying loyal to her father , which in this case could just be waiting longer until Egeus approves of her marrying Lysander , she decides to betray her father by disobeying what he said. |
Reflection on the song:
When reflecting on this song you realize that some of the lyrics have a connection with Lysander and Hermia's relationship. The particular lyrics "Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess. It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes.' " reminded me of Lydander and Hermia's plan. They will meet in the forest where they will be "alone" then they will "run" away to his aunt's house. They will get married and it will be a love story as long as everything works out , like the song. |
Act 2 Scene 2 Lines 111-113 |
" Content with Hermia! No; I do repent The tendious minutes I with her have spent. Not Hermia but Helena I love."
|
Reflection on the quote:
Lysander says this because he is poisoned by Puck. The spell he is under makes him fall in love with the next person he see's which turns out to be Helena. When Lysander says this to Helena, she believes that he is just insulting her, she does not realize that he is actually in love her. By doing this , Lysander is not staying loyal to his partner Hermia, for he is sacrificing in a wrong way his love with Hermia in order to be with Helena. |
Reflection on the

Lysander starts to fall in love with Helena but she knows that something is wrong because he is in love with her best friend Hermia , and by saying what he says is betraying his loyalty to Hermia. |
